If you happen to be driving across SD one day you might see an sign that has the name Wall-Drug, these are everywhere, you can not escape them. well as fate would have it i found a picture of a stella at wal-drug. thanks to the riders of stella for the picture. A great scooter sales and repair book that just came in the other day goes by the name of Scooterworks. let me tell you this is one of the best catelogs i have ever seen, it even has a diagram on the frount so that you can identify vintage Vespas and other close cousins to the Vespa. Oh yeah and ITS FREE!! So order one it can be of great importance.

What to do with your scooter?

Today it rained, my scooter sat outside over night, I thought I covered but to my dismay, there was no cover this morning. It is important to use a hard grease to make sure all component of the scooter are properly lubricated and quite free to move about, the most important, brake and clutch cables as well as anything else you can think of, depending on your make and model here should be a picture of some desent quality bearing grease, however you may want to use some kind of waterproof grease if you wish to, it should make no difference in the preformance. Here is something fun to think about, try and think up a theme for your ride, perhaps a paint job, how about a unicorn crashing into a ufo being stalked by a nude women on a motorcycle with a sword, not satisfied, throw a panther in there somewhere. Personally I think black pen art is the best for scooters, something simple, infact you can go to your local autoparts store and pick up some racing strips and cut them to your taste, may designs can be made, somewhere is a picture from Geuine scooters and a racing stripe cut out. have fun. hmmm? for some reason the pictures are not uploading, i will work on that.

If one day you are just walking along and you have the urge to run and jump onto a moving train, then do it. It seems that the most fun in life can be had by taking small risks and making a move. But do not try to out run the train to the track crossing, I on the other hand had my part in this. nearly got run the hell over. if i had my Stella it may have been a bit safer but it was still fun. Now with two trips under my belt from home and back I have the logistics of the Stella/Vespa. It would seem that at 45-50mph it recieves about 90 mpg however at 55-60mph the milage drops to apx 80mpg. These figure may be just a little bit off but are close enough for government work. Even though this is suppose to be a site just for scooter I think that it is appropriate to place any info about adventures or anything that might interest people about scooters, yeah it is random. but thats just me. Here are some things to bring or at least remeber when going cross Country on a Scooter

Take your Time
Take a break for you and the Scooter when you get Gas
Bring Spare Cables
Spark plugs
Tools that you need, (Duct Tape, Pliers, Socket Set, Adjustable wrenches)
If you do not have a rack get one! These are great for stotage, and saveing your back
A repair Manuel, Haynes Manuels I find are the best for working on anything.

Here is a picture of one the the scooter clubs members at Rahi, in the Middle East. This is where he spent his summer doing archeological studies. this sturcture is most impressive, if you did not notice that is him on the top of the center pilar. Scooters take you farther and quiter that most vehciles i know. Hats off to you J-
On the other Picture you will see me looking quite disheveled from a 4hour and 30 minute ride from School at ECU Greenville, to Elon College, had to take back roads. And if anybody has ridden on as many North Carolina back roads than i have then they are a Bad Ass. Also i do not take good pictures, especially at night in the rain, makes me look old. but Serenity looks just fine.

You know the way some people see scooters is like seeing a horse for a cowboy, a car for a
16year old boy, or getting your wings to fly. Now with Gas Prices skyrocketing it is hard to pay for the fuel in my Jeep every time I want to see a friend or see the Folks back home. The scooter can let me feel the open road once again like the days of old, when you would ride for days alone on your horse just to make it to the next town to find work. In some ways I long to be in that time the real men of the west, train robbers, lawmen, and gun fighters. Something always seems so familar when I travel far into the deserts, maybe I was reincarnated, or maybe I am just crazy. But Serinity takes me to a state of mind that gives me the feeling of being in another place and another time. The Picture Above are at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and the other is 1/2 the heigth of K2

So, here is an idea for all those who read or are a part of the scooter community around Greenville/ECU.
A scooter ride to. Uwarihee National Forest, Jacksonville(which would be a pretty boring ride.) the Outer Banks, Topsail Island. All of these places can be reached by taking backroads and highways that have a maximum speed of 55mph. These are just suggestions, if anyone has any other ideas of where to go then just comment. Uwarihee National Forest is one of my favorite places to camp yearound and is far enough away from any towns it proves to be a relaxing place.
Unless of corse you are chased by redneck weilding shotguns, or in a winter storm that freezes your jeep to the surrounds so that when you wakeup just before you go into hypothermea the thought goes threw your mind, did we have beef and mushrooms or vegitarian Lasaugne for dinner. everytime i go to Uwarihee something odd happens and i have an adventure.

Streching arms for a scooter ride,Here is a picture from Animazment 2005. Me and my friend Tyson had to stay in another friend's house since the hotels were so bloody expensive. also far right is a picture of Vespa of Seatle WA. The woman that worked there had an European Accent and lacked underarm deoderant, but she was really nice to show me around, so that makes her ok.

Here is a picture of my 2005 Stella, made in the Vespa Factory in Kalkur. It gets 90MPG and
can obtain speeds in excess of 60MPH. I am looking at adding on a few items for the winter so when i go on my cross country trip this summer i will not be cramped for space. It is part of Project Haruko and because I am a romantic I give all my vehicles names, this is Serinity.
